Blackpool Tower

Probably one of the most famous landmarks in Blackpool, Blackpool Tower proudly stands 158m (518ft 9 inches) high over Blackpool’s Golden Mile. The Tower was opened on 14th May 1894 and was inspired by and modelled on the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Blackpool Tower is so imposing that it can not only be seen from all over Blackpool, but also from a number of nearby towns.

However, Blackpool Tower is not only an incredible piece of architecture and engineering, it is also a multi-level entertainment venue and has a number of attractions inside, including Blackpool Tower Circus at the bottom, Blackpool Tower Aquarium, The Jurassic Walk, Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Jungle Jim’s Towering Adventureland and Blackpool Tower Top.

Blackpool Tower Circus

Blackpool Tower Circus - voted ‘Best UK Circus’ - is positioned at the base of Blackpool Tower, between its four legs. Blackpool Tower Circus’s ring can be lowered into a pool of water, revealing majestic dancing fountains and allowing for incredible grand finales.

Blackpool Tower Circus is celebrating its 115th Birthday and currently stages “Mooky’s Eastern Promise”, a new show for 2010.

As the name suggests, there is a taste of the Orient as all of the visiting performers are from the Far East and bring with them a dazzling array of skills that will have you on the edge of your seat! The show includes acrobatic routines, plate-spinning, a unique face-changing act and much more. It ends with a fabulous finale when the circus arena is filled with thousands of gallons of water for an unforgettable spectacle.

Blackpool Tower Aquarium

Blackpool Tower Undersea World Aquarium is located on the ground floor and will provide you with an insight into amazing creatures of the deep. It is host to over 70 species of fish and is home to incredible residents including the giant Pacu fish of the Amazon which belongs to the same family as the Piranha and weighs an impressive 30 kilos, tropical marine fish as well as lobsters and eels.

Blackpool Tower Ballroom

Designed by Frank Matcham and opened in 1899, Blackpool Tower Ballroom’s floor is 120ft x 120ft and is made up of over 30,000 separate blocks of mahogany, walnut and oak.

Every day throughout the summer months, Blackpool Tower Ballroom becomes an entertainment venue. The Ballroom not only plays host to romantic tea dances accompanied by the traditional Wurlitzer organ but also hosts various shows.

So why wait? Visit Blackpool Tower Ballroom and take a twirl on one the UK’s most famous dance floors or simply sit and watch the world dance by while enjoying a traditional English tea in this magical Victorian setting.

Blackpool Tower Top and Walk of Faith

Blackpool Tower Top and its observation platform offers incredible views of Blackpool. The enclosed area is situated at 116 metres (380ft) and can be reached by a lift. You can alternatively also climb the 536 steps that will take you there.

Why not test your nerve on the scary ‘Walk of Faith’, a 2inch thick glass floor that stands 380ft (115 metres) above Blackpool. Walk across the ‘Walk of Faith’ and look through the clear panel straight down onto the promenade.

To get even more incredible views, simply walk up 2 extra flights of stairs to reach the top viewing platform, standing at 450ft. From here, you will be able to see the Lake District as well as the Furness Peninsulas, North Wales and the Isle of Man!

Blackpool Tower Jungle Jim’s Towering Adventureland

Are you visiting Blackpool with the family? Head straight to Jungle Jim’s Towering Adventureland, Europe’s largest indoor adventure playground. Based on the theme of 'lost city', the playground was designed with kids in mind – your little ones will have hours of fun with an incredible range of indoor slides, ball ponds and climbing ropes.

Blackpool Tower Jurassic Walk

A 3D Cinema and a great attraction for the family! Put your 3D glasses on and Blackpool Tower Jurassic Walk will make you travel back through time where you will walk through a dinosaur landscape. A truly amazing experience – especially great for kids!

Blackpool Tower Opening Times

Blackpool Tower opens daily from 10am. The closing times vary from 5pm to 11pm at some weekdays during the Illumination period.
